In order to obtain reliable audience feedback, I created a short survey of five different questions to ask an audience, interview style. Each question was created with a different area of the newspaper in mind, which allowed me to get my audience's thoughts on specific parts of my product rather than just a general opinion. I purposely made sure to ask at least a few people who fitted into my target audience of around 70+ years. This way the feedback is likely to be more accurate, seen as that age range is the target audience I am aiming for. However, I also interviewed a participant who was younger than this age category in order to contrast the opinions through generations. The audience feedback I received can be seen in the video below.

What I gained from my audience feedback

After completing this video, I found adjustments that I would make to my local newspaper on the basis of each question, if I were to do the task again. 

• My older audience both said that they would've preferred the front cover to have included more on the local politics of the town as they were not particularly interested in the group discussing recycling. One of my participants even said he would enjoy a touch of national politics and perhaps how things on a larger scale would directly affect the town. If I were to complete the task again, I would include a more varied range of political topics to interest everyone.

• All three of my participants picked up on the geographical features that related to their town, saying they were drawn to things that showed specific home comforts and showed off the beauty of the town. One of my participants suggested that if there were more images of the town it would be a better way to showcase the town, make the paper look more picturesque and keep the focus on the local area. If i were to do the task again, I would focus on including more photographs of the local surroundings to draw locals in. Perhaps by creating a newspaper logo with an image featured.

• One of my participants also noted out the fact that there were possibly too many subjects covered on the front cover, especially for the older generation who may have trouble reading a busy page. If I were to do the task again I would limit the story coverage on the front cover in order to enlarge the images slightly and to make the text slightly bigger.

Other than these criticisms, there were no major adjustments to be made as my audience seemed relatively pleased with the newspaper I had to offer.
